The Birth of Dela

Dela Clothing was born in the winter of 2006 in the South Bay of Los Angeles, California. For some months, Troy Scarcliff and Jackson Day had the idea of starting a clothing company, it was just a matter of coming up with a name that would define the unique styles that these two had. Both partners found the most defining values in their lives to be peace, culture, and mother nature. When the name 'Dela' came up, they knew it was perfect. With many different meanings, it would allow the company to adopt a certain diversity that was incomparable to any other clothing company. Out of the many various meanings, two stood out as more defining than the others. The first of these had to be 'everything's gonna be alright,' coming from a native language in Africa. The other important meaning, and the one more commonly explained to others, is the spanish 'of L.A.,' as Troy and Jackson were both from the county of Los Angeles, and loved it there. From then on, the two knew that they had created something special - not just a clothing company, but along with it the Dela lifestyle.

The Growth of Dela

Not long after, Troy began creating several designs that could be used for t-shirts. They were simple designs, but effective in sending out their message. Him and Jackson were very anxious to see some product, so they bought the minimum amount of supplies and figured out how to print shirts. The head office and workshop was in the basement of Jackson's house. Although it was not the most comfortable place, it was a private, effective work area, and the birthplace of the company. News about Dela spread quickly across their school, Redondo Union High, mainly through the internet. Soon it caught the eye of many individuals from the surrounding area, and eventually of people around the world. The demand of shirts was very high, but unfortunately for many, product was low. This would soon change

Dela in the Present Day

Nowadays, things are looking good for Dela Clothing. Due to an expanding fan base, many eager and enthusiastic members have been added to the Dela Crew. Together, the crew has gained much success over the years. Individuals who rep Dela include G. Love (frontman of G. Love and Special Sauce), BW of Hawaiian reggae band Ooklah the Moc, and all members of a very successful Australian band, The Cat Empire. The Dela lifestyle is rapidly spreading, and the world is becoming a little bit better. Expect to see Dela Clothing hitting a store near you soon, no matter where you are. We're coming, so you better start spreading the love butter.
